Sean Curtis '14 is a international relations major from Corinth, New York. Sean will be studying in London with API at the University of London: School of Oriental and African Studies.
Why did you decide to study abroad?
I wanted to expand my cultural horizons and to go in the deep of end of academic work on the topic of sub-Saharan Africa.
I hope to acquire a considerable amount of information about Africa, the Middle East, and Asia but most importantly acquire new ways to analyze and process it all.
What obstacles do you think you might encounter abroad?
I think adjusting to different instruction methods and class styles may be one of the biggest changes I’ll be dealing with at SOAS which is considered one of the best schools in the world on the subjects after which it is named.
Why did you choose this particular program?
API offered a number of useful services, regular help on a range of study abroad issues that could pop up, some great excursions, and a storied program in and of itself.
What are you bringing with you that you absolutely can’t live without?
My running gear because it’s a great way to stay in shape but most importantly explore any new city that I find myself in.
