A Very "Anselmian" Christmas: Campus Event Guide

Saint Anselm College celebrates the arrival of the Christmas season with a variety of events, ranging from family festivals to the annual DecemberSong concert by the college choir to the Davison Hall Christmas Feast. The Office of Campus Ministry and the Monastic community celebrate Advent with a full schedule of events.

Christmas Giving Tree

Through December 15

Share the joy of the true meaning of Christmas by participating in our Christmas Giving Tree Project for local families and children in need.

Each year students, staff, and faculty participate in this campus-wide project that gives back to our community. These gifts are distributed by Catholic Charities to families throughout the Greater Manchester area.

Christmas Trees with gift tags are located in the first floor of Alumni Hall and the Abbey Church

Please return gifts to Campus Ministry by Tuesday, December 15.

Gingerbread House Competition

There is no better way to embrace the Christmas season at Saint Anselm than to participate in the annual gingerbread house competition! Get covered in candy and frosting while competing for a $400 grand prize.

Campus Ministry "Fair Trade Fair"

Stop by the Fair Trade Fair to browse a wide variety of handcrafted gifts, all produced by artisans and farmers from across the world. Each purchase helps workers in developing countries maintain steady work and sustainable income so that they can provide for their families.

The assortment includes jewelry, housewares, coffee and chocolate and other items. The fair is a quick and convenient place to get all your Christmas shopping done this year while contributing to a good cause.

Meelia Center Children’s Holiday Fair

Join Meelia Center in celebrating the 25th annual Children’s Holiday Fair! Bring your holiday cheer and help hundreds of children from the greater Manchester community have some holiday fun. This is a great way for your team or club to bond while making Christmas time special for those in need.

DecemberSong is a special service of readings and songs celebrating the Christmas season. The program begins in darkness with a candlelight contemplative song then progresses through the Advent and Christmas seasons.

This year's program, the night before the first Sunday of Advent is a perfect way to prepare for the special seasons of December. Admission to DecemberSong is free, but plan to arrive early for parking and seating.

Born and raised in the Bronx, the daughter of Irish immigrants, steeped in Irish musical tradition from childhood, a multi-faceted and internationally honored genius on the violin, Eileen Ivers has spent her long and much-lauded career in re-inventing and re-invigorating Celtic music in all its forms.

Hailed as one of the great innovators and pioneers in both the Celtic and World Music genres, Ivers has won a Grammy, been nominated for an Emmy, wrote the soundtrack for the award-winning film Gangs Of New York, was an All-Ireland Fiddle Champion nine times, helped found Cherish The Ladies, and has played variously with The Chieftans, Sting, Patti Smith, Riverdance, the London Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Pops, to name a few.

Her electrifying style and reverence for her material are sure to dazzle and charm you and your family in an evening of rare entertainment from an international superstar. You won’t want to miss an opportunity to experience the violin as you’ve never heard it before in this repertoire of Irish, contemporary and Christmas favorites!
