As the semester draws to a close, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Student Government Association (SGA), bring the campus community together to celebrate the end of the year with a week of Anselmian celebration. Using this year’s theme ‘young, wild, and free,’ spring week events include a spirit rally, a powder-puff football game, and Club SAC, a late-night dance party.
Campus Activities Board started planning events in November following a CAB conference. CAB’s student chair, Martha Lombard “wanted to find something the whole school would enjoy and something we could facilitate here on campus.”
CAB worked with then-SGA president, Marissa Serafino ’12, to give students a fun week before finals. Students compete with their fellow classmates throughout the week in hopes of being crowned the winning class, and receiving an honorary plaque in Davison.
Party Your Classes off festivities included a BBQ station with burgers and hot dogs, a popular fried dough oven turned out sweet treats, all while flash-mobs developed as free tank tops, Frisbees, and sunglasses were thrown out to the crowd.
Inside the Carr Activities Center, students were treated to a carnival atmosphere of inflatable games, two caricature artists and the ever popular 'balloon-animal-and-hat-maker.'
Cover band and mash up artists, the Scott Wesley Band, performed later in the evening under the stars.
Saturday night, students gathered for Club SAC, a late-night Carr Center dance party. Gateway productions, a production company goes on tour with artists such as Drake, transformed the Carr Center into a night club complete with a stage, lights, nitrogen blasts, and more. Music was provided by DJ Cootz, a popular DJ from Manchester’s the Grand.
